Stony Brook, NY - June 27, 2018 - Solar, the author of ‘Moment of Truth: The Guru Gang Starr Story’ and Grandmaster Caz are Tom Needham’s exclusive guests this Thursday at 6 PM on WUSB’s ‘The Sounds of Film.’

Longtime Guru collaborator, Solar, will be discussing his new book, which claims to be the definitive word on the life and death of Gang Starr’s Guru. Keith Edward Elam (Guru) was a rapper, producer and actor who died in 2010.  Guru is considered one of hip hop’s greatest MC’s.  The Source ranked him #30 on their list of the top 50 Lyricists of all time.  Guru had the unique experience of achieving  musical success with Gang Starr, Jazzmatazz and as a solo artist. As an actor he appeared in multiple films and television series including ‘Who’s The Man,’ ‘Training Day,’ and ‘NYPD Blue.’ His music was featured in countless soundtracks including ‘Menace to Society,’ ‘Addams Family Values,’ and ‘Any Given Sunday.’

Also on the program is legendary hip hop star, Grandmaster Caz.  He will be discussing his involvement in the hip hop films ‘Wild Style’ and Ice-T’s ‘The Art of Rap.’ In 2008, Grandmaster Caz was inducted into the Bronx Walk of Fame. He was also inducted into the Technics DJ Hall of Fame in 1999.

Listeners of the ‘Sounds of Film’ can also tune in to hear music spun by guest DJ, Cutsupreme, who will be mixing in tracks from Guru and Grandmaster Caz. Cutsupreme is currently promoting his latest hip hop drama, ‘Deuce da Vocalist: Season 1.’
