Nassau County Legislature Honors Top Cops for June 2022

Written by Long Island  |  27. June 2022

On June 27th, the Nassau County Legislature honored two police officers and two police medics as Top Cops for their actions in saving the life of a man who was not breathing.

On May 6th, 5th Precinct Officers Salvatore Milone and Robert Polzer were dispatched to a restaurant in Franklin Square after a call saying a male was not breathing. They arrived alongside some members of the Franklin Square Fire Department who were placing the male on the ground. Since he did not have a pulse and was not breathing, CPR was started, and Officer Milone attached his AED. They succeeded in getting his pulse back. Police Medics Ryan Murphy and Jason Katz arrived on the scene and attached a monitor to the man. They discovered he had shallow breathing and irregular heart rhythm. They gave him a second shock and he reacted with a stronger pulse and better breathing. He was placed in a police ambulance and given medicine through an IO drilled through his shinbone. He is expected to make a full recovery.

Because of the quick thinking of these officers and police medics, this man is alive today. Thank you, Nassau County Police Department, for all you!
