Mangano to Reopen Nassau County Police Pistol Range after Environmental Cleanup
Hempstead, NY - July 2, 2014 - Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano will be joined by Acting Police Commissioner Tom Krumpter as they reopen the Nassau County Police Department’s Pistol Range at a press conference Today at 12:00p.m.
The range is being reopened after a major project to overhaul the facility and remediate lead contamination while safeguarding the facility, members of the police force and surrounding area from any future concerns about lead concentration.
The facility plays a critical role in keeping Nassau County Police Officers well-trained in the use of firearms. Nassau is the safest large County in the nation and crime is down 12% since 2011, down 10% this year, and at the lowest level since crime stats have been recorded in Nassau County.
