AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING An Air Quality Health Advisory remains in effect for the following counties: Nassau and Suffolk. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. The toll free number is 1 800 5 3 5, 1 3 4 5.

SCPD Crime Alert: Man Wanted for Using Stolen Credit Cards in Islip Terrace

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the man who used credit cards stolen from a vehicle in Islip Terrace last year.

Islip Terrace, NY - July 3rd, 2014 -  Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the man who used credit cards stolen from a vehicle in Islip Terrace last year.

A wallet was stolen from a vehicle on East Garden City Street on August 31, 2013.  A few hours later, a credit card that was in the wallet was used at the Mobil gas station and the 7-Eleven store, located on Sunrise Highway in Islip Terrace.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 20 to 25-years-old, with tattoos on both of his forearms.  He was wearing an orange knit cap, white t-shirt, and long tan-colored shorts.
