"Spoiled Food" Forces Delta Flight to Amsterdam to Make Emergency Landing at JFK Airport

A Delta Airlines flight was forced to divert from its planned course from Detroit to Amsterdam Wednesday morning when a number of passengers reportedly had adverse reactions to contaminated food that they had been served, with the redeye flight making an emergency landing at New York's John F. Kennedy airport.
 
Flight 136 touched down on a JFK runway at 4 a.m. this morning, according to a Delta spokesperson, who stated that the reason was due to reports that "a portion of the Main Cabin in-flight meal service were spoiled.”
 
The flight had a total of 277 passengers, and while the total number of passengers who were allegedly sickened by the food is unknown, reports indicate that the plane was met by emergency medical responders who ultimately provided treatment to 12 individuals.
 
“This is not the service Delta is known for and we sincerely apologize to our customers for the inconvenience and delay in their travels,” said the Delta spokesperson.
