AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. One Man Dead, One Man Injured in North Amityville Shooting on July 4th

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating a shooting that killed one man and injured another in North Amityville early this morning.

Jason White, 38, of West Babylon, died from his injuries. The other victim was admitted to the hospital in serious condition. Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call 631-852-6392 or 800-220-TIPS.

North Amityville, NY - July 4, 2016 - Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating a shooting that killed one man and injured another in North Amityville early this morning.

Police received a 911 call at 3:19 a.m. reporting that two men were shot in front of 18 Emerald Lane North. Jason White and a 28-year-old Wyandanch man were transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore. White, 38, of West Babylon, died from his injuries and the 28-year-old victim was admitted in serious condition.

The investigation is continuing.
