AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a Central Islip woman.

Shantel Scott, 27, of Central Islip, was found unconscious in her home and later pronounced dead. Detectives ask anyone with information on this case to call 631-852-6392 or 800-220-TIPS.

Central Islip, NY - July 4, 2016 - Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a Central Islip woman.

Shantel Scott was found unconscious in her home, located at 28 Naples Ave., by other residents in the early morning hours of July 3 following a party at the home. Scott, 27, was transported by private vehicle to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where she was pronounced dead.

An autopsy will be performed by the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner at a later date to determine Scott’s cause of death.
