AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 11 PM EDT SUNDAY The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following counties: Nassau, Suffolk, from 11 AM to 11 PM EDT Sunday. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The Air Quality Index, or AQI, was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the AQI value, the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated, the New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Suspect in Custody in Connection with Armed Robberies of Two East Meadow Businesses, Cops Say

Brian Adams, 39, is charged with four counts of Robbery 1st Degree, and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree.

The Major Case Bureau reports the arrest of an East Meadow man for two Armed Robberies that occurred on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 7:45 p.m. in Uniondale and Sunday, May 26, 2024 at 7:57 p.m. in East Meadow.
 
According to Robbery Squad Detectives, Brian Adams, 39, of 225 Mitchell Avenue, was arrested for the armed robbery of the Conoco gas station, located at 1198 Front Street, Uniondale and for the armed robbery of the Dunkin Donuts, located at 329 Merrick Avenue, East Meadow.
 
During both Robberies, defendant Adams pointed a firearm at the employee while demanding cash from the register. After a thorough investigation, Detectives were able to track down defendant Adams and arrested him without incident. 
 
Defendant Adams is charged with four counts of Robbery 1st Degree, and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree. He will be arraigned on Thursday, July 4, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
