Nine People Arrested at Sobriety Checkpoint in Port Jefferson Station

Suffolk County Police, assisted by the New York State Police and Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police, arrested nine people during an overnight sobriety checkpoint in the Port Jefferson Station area.

Port Jefferson Station, NY - July 4, 2015 - Suffolk County Police, assisted by the New York State Police and Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police, arrested nine people during an overnight sobriety checkpoint in the Port Jefferson Station area.    

Police officers from the Suffolk County Highway Patrol Bureau, assisted by police officers from the State Police and MTA, conducted a Sobriety Checkpoint on Rt. 25A in Port Jefferson Station, last night into early this morning from 11:15 p.m. July 3, to 3:15 a.m. July 4.  The operation was conducted for the prevention of injuries and fatalities associated with driving while ability impaired by alcohol and drugs during the July 4th Holiday weekend.  A total of 761 vehicles went through the checkpoint.

The following people were charged with Driving While Intoxicated:

  • Lisa Strickland, 27, of Port Jefferson
  • John Jakob, 22, of Selden
  • Ibidapo Kayode, 21, of the Bronx
  • David Morgan, 29, of Riverhead

The following people were charged with Driving While Ability Impaired:

  • Oscar Quiles Jr., 29, of Bellport
  • [Name Redacted], Female, 30, of Chappaqua, New York

The following people were charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs:

Additionally, Arnold Roundtree, 30, of Shirley was charged with Driving without an Ignition Interlock Device and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle 2nd degree.

The above individuals will be arraigned at First District Court on July 4, 2015.

A criminal charge is an accusation.  A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
