AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING An Air Quality Health Advisory remains in effect for the following counties: Nassau and Suffolk. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Third Precinct police officers report the arrest of a Floral Park man for driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle that occurred in New Hyde Park on Monday.

Hardikkumar Patel, 31, of Floral Park, was arrested for DWI with one-year-old son in vehicle on July 4th.

New Hyde Park, NY - July 5, 2016 - Third Precinct police officers report the arrest of a Floral Park man for driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle (Leandra’s Law) that occurred in New Hyde Park on Monday, 07/04/16 at 9:10 P.M.

According to police, Hardikkumar Patel, 31, of Floral Park, while operating a 2002 Honda was involved in an auto accident with a 2010 Chevrolet on Jericho Tpke./New Hyde Park Rd.  Subsequent investigation revealed that the defendant was operating his vehicle while intoxicated with his one-year-old son in the car.  The child was released at the scene to a family member.

No injuries were reported.

Patel is being charged with Aggravated Driving Intox (Child 15), Endangering Welfare of Child, DWI, and will be arraigned on Tuesday, 07/05/16 in First District Court, Hempstead.
