Man Drowns at Indian Island County Park

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the drowning death of a man that occurred at Indian Island County Park this evening.

Riverhead, NY - July 5, 2016 - Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the drowning death of a man that occurred at Indian Island County Park this evening.

Riverhead Police and Suffolk County Park Police responded to Indian Island County Park, located off of Route 105 in Riverhead, after a caller reported that a man had been pulled from the beach that runs along the Peconic River at approximately 5:20 p.m. Beachgoers initiated CPR on Brian Nolan, 20, of Glen Cove. He was transported by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance to Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead where he was pronounced dead.

Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the incident. The Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner will be investigating the cause of death.

The incident does not appear to be criminal in nature. The investigation is continuing.
