AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING An Air Quality Health Advisory remains in effect for the following counties: Nassau and Suffolk. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Suffolk PD Announce Arrest of Suspect in Connection with Two Bank Robberies

James Kosin is charged with robbing Bank of America in Patchogue and TD Bank in Medford, officials say.

SCPD have arrested James Kosin for robbing two banks.

Suffolk County, NY - July 6, 2018 - Suffolk County Police on Thursday, July 5 arrested a man for robbing two banks in the last three days.
 
James Kosin walked into Bank of America, located at 47 West Main St., Patchogue, at approximately 11:50 a.m. and handed the teller a note demanding cash. The teller complied and Kosin fled on foot.
 
Deputy Inspector John Rowan broadcast a notification over the police radio after he observed a vehicle fitting the description of the robber’s vehicle traveling on the Long Island Expressway. Highway Patrol Officer Philip Buzzanca heard the notification and a short time later observed the vehicle and a man fitting the description of the bank robber on the William Floyd Parkway in Shirley. Officer Buzzanca arrested Kosin at approximately 2:05 p.m.
 
Following an investigation by Major Case Unit detectives, Kosin was also charged with robbing the TD Bank, located at 1806 Medford Avenue, Medford, on July 3.
 
Kosin was charged with two counts of Robbery 3rd Degree. He will be held overnight at the Seventh Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on July 6.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
