In late May, LaLa’s Lounge swept open its doors at the old Swept Away spot on Bayview Avenue in Bay Shore offering their take on Mexican food and cool cocktails.
The menu features taquitos de elote, stuffed with local corn and beans rolled in cotija, crema, lime, cilantro, and Old Bay seasoning ($11), a nacho plate $12 and So-Cal guacamole ($15). Wings ($16), mussels ($14) and fried calamari ($16) are also on the starter menu.

Get the tacos or quesadillas or try one of their hand-helds like the LaLa Smash Burger, which is two pressed patties, shredded lettuce, shaved onion, american cheese and “sauce” ($16) and the Baja Fish sandwich, grilled or fried local fish with lettuce tomato, salsa de aguacate, and homemade Baja sauce ($18).
The specialty cocktail menu features their Shadow Work mixture with turmeric infused mezcal, apricot, brana menta, bitrus and mint ($14), the Easy A with vodka, pimms, lemon, blueberry syrup, and ginger beer ($12) or the Pear Pressure with rye, velvet falernum, spiced honey syrup, pear puree and lemon ($13). Happy hour is 3-6pm, Monday through Friday.

The trendy spot has been lighting up the reviews.
On Google, reviewer Marc Johnson gave it five stars.
“The boys from Verde, Costa Grill and the new BWI do it again with this latest addition to Bay Shore’s ever growing array of restaurant choices,” he wrote. “With a fun friendly staff and ‘beachy’ feel, their newest bar in their portfolio brings Ocean Beach and the rest of Fire Island to the mainland, except with good food and reasonably priced drinks!”

Kristina Markovitch agreed.
“Food is incredible,” she wrote. “Fresh with some nice twists on classic dishes. Recommend the guac and ceviche.”
