AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO MIDNIGHT EDT THURSDAY NIGHT The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following counties: New York, Bronx, Kings, Queens, Richmond, Nassau, Suffolk, Westchester, Rockland, Orange, Putnam. from midnight tonight to midnight EDT Thursday night. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Fine Particulates. The Air Quality Index, or AQI, was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the AQI value, the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated, the New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Woman Shot in Huntington Station

Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating an incident in which a Huntington Station woman was shot.

Lanise Felder, 40, of Huntington Station, was shot while walking on Craven Avenue in Huntington Station. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 631-854-8252 or 800-220-TIPS.

Huntington Station, NY - July 7, 2016 - Suffolk County Police Second Squad detectives are investigating an incident in which a Huntington Station woman was shot.

Lanise Felder, of Huntington Station, was walking on Craven Avenue towards 10th Avenue in Huntington Station when she thought she heard a firecracker explode. She then felt tingling in her lower leg and realized that she had been shot in the leg about four inches above her ankle.

Felder, 40, was transported by a family member to Huntington Hospital where she contacted police and received treatment for her injury.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with any information about this incident, or about a black SUV, possibly a Nissan Pathfinder, that was seen leaving the scene of the shooting, to contact the Second Squad at 631-854-8252 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
