AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Floral Park House Robbed, Jamaica Man Arrested

A man was arrested for breaking into and burglarizing a Floral Park home.

Floral Park, NY - July 9, 2014 - Third Squad detectives report the arrest of a Jamaica, Queens man for a Burglary that occurred on July 8, 2014 at 1:46 pm in Floral Park.
 
According to detectives, Anthony Wearen, 54, of 115 04 142nd Street was observed by a witness breaking a rear window and entering a Calla Avenue residence. After 911 was contacted, Floral Park Police Department officers responded and secured a perimeter around the home. Wearen, who opened the front door, surrendered himself to police and was placed into custody. Recovered at the scene was jewelry from the home that was placed into a bedroom pillowcase.
 
Wearen is charged with Burglary 2nd Degree and will arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 07/09/2014.
