AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following areas: All five boroughs of New York City, and Westchester, Rockland, Nassau, and Suffolk counties. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Third Squad detectives report a Serious Auto Accident involving an arrest for Driving While Intoxicated that occurred on Sunday, July 10, 2016 at 12:36 am in New Hyde Park.

Andoni Ugarte, 21, of New Hyde Park was arrested for DWI after hitting a wooden utility pole.

New Hyde Park, NY - July 11, 2016 - Third Squad detectives report a Serious Auto Accident involving an arrest for Driving While Intoxicated that occurred on Sunday, July 10, 2016 at 12:36 am in New Hyde Park.

According to detectives, Third Precinct officers responded to Jericho Turnpike and Cherry Lane for the report of an auto accident that just occurred. Upon arrival officers observed that a 2007 Toyota Camry had impacted a wooden utility pole.

The driver, Andoni Ugarte, 21, of New Hyde Park was found to be in an intoxicated condition and was suffering from multiple trauma injuries. She was placed into custody, transported to an area hospital for treatment and is currently listed in critical condition.

Ugarte is charged with Driving While Intoxicated and will be arraigned when practical.
