FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 1030 AM EDT THIS MORNING * WHAT...Ongoing flooding caused by excessive rainfall. * WHERE...A portion of southeast New York, including the following county, Suffolk. * WHEN...Until 1030 AM EDT. * IMPACTS...Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Expect many areas of standing water. Numerous basements and several ground level structures remain flooded. Isolated sinkholes are possible. In addition, flooding along creeks, streams, ponds, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is possible. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 438 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain. Flooding is ongoing in the warned area. Between 6 and 10 inches of rain have fallen. - Flooding impacts will continue into the morning commute, but no additional rainfall is expected. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Brentwood, Commack, Huntington Station, Centereach, Deer Park, Hauppauge, Ronkonkoma, Huntington, Stony Brook, Middle Island, Port Jefferson, Wading River, Northport, Coram, Dix Hills, Smithtown, Melville, Farmingville, Rocky Point and Mount Sinai. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

Suffolk Legislator Trotta Collects School Supplies for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul

Smithtown, NY - July 11, 2018 - Suffolk County Legislator Rob Trotta is collecting school supplies for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul based at St. Joseph’s Church in Kings Park. Donations may be dropped off at his district office in Smithtown, located at 59 Landing Avenue, Suite 1, during the hours of 9am – 4:00pm, Monday – Friday.
 
School items being collected include composition notebooks, spiral notebooks, glue sticks,  pencils and pencil cases, pencil sharpeners, pens, crayons, erasers, rulers, loose leaf paper, Play- Doh, and pocket folders.
