Suffolk SPCA: Huntington Station Woman Charged With Animal Abandonment

After an investigation, detectives from the Suffolk County SPCA have charged a Huntington Station woman with animal abandonment.  
 
Roy Gross, Chief of the Suffolk SPCA said that its detectives charged Darcy Beard, 60, of Huntington Station, with one count of animal abandonment, a misdemeanor, for driving up to a Dix Hills Animal Hospital when it was closed, abandoning Lavender Rose, her 9 year old female by leaving it in a cat carrier at that location and driving away.
 
Beard surrendered to SPCA detectives and is scheduled to appear in First District Court, Central Islip, on July 26, 2022.
