Bicyclist Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash in Terryville

Terryville, NY - July 12th, 2013 - Suffolk County Police Vehicular Crime Unit detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a bicyclist in Terryville last evening.

Bradford Packer, 51, of Port Jefferson Station, was riding his bicycle northbound on Route 112 when he was struck by a vehicle traveling westbound on Nesconset Highway, at approximately 9:15 p.m. Packer was transported via Terryville Fire Department ambulance to John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson where he was pronounced dead.

The vehicle, which was described as a light-colored Hyundai sedan, fled the scene westbound on Nesconset Highway. The Hyundai has significant front-end damage.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the crash to contact Vehicular Crime Unit at 631-852-6555 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 631-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
