ELEVATED RISK FOR FIRE SPREAD THURSDAY The combination of low relative humidity values between 20 and 25 percent and wind gusts 20 to 25 mph will create an elevated risk for fire spread. Exercise caution handling any potential ignition sources, including machinery, cigarettes, and matches. Any fires that ignite will have the potential to spread quickly. This forecast considers meteorological, fuel, and land conditions and has been developed in coordination with state fire and land management officials.

Merrick, NY - July 12th, 2014 - The Robbery Squad reports the details of a bank robbery that occurred at 10:09am on July 11, 2014 in Merrick.
 
According to Detectives, an unknown male subject entered the Capital One Bank located at 2192 Merrick Road.  The subject approached a teller with a demand note and displayed a black handgun.  The teller complied with the demand and the subject fled the scene on foot northbound through the parking lot with an undetermined amount of US currency.  There were four employees in the bank and no injuries were reported.
 
The subject is described as male black, 30 years old, 6’, dark complexion, black colored doo rag, tan button down long sleeve shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers and black sunglasses.
