Officials: Three Arrested in Connection with April Murder of Hempstead Man

Wyandanch, NY – July 12, 2017 – Suffolk County Police have arrested three people in connection to the murder of Alan Moore. Moore, 22, of Hempstead, was found dead in an abandoned residence in Wyandanch in April.
 
On Saturday, April 1, 2017, a man entered a residence on Long Island Ave. in an effort to escape the weather conditions and found another man dead inside the abandoned residence. The man flagged down police at approximately 3:15 a.m.
 
The victim, Alan Moore, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
 
Homicide Squad detectives charged Dequanna Bates, 24, Joshua Nickens, 25, and Larry Dennis, 47, all of Bellport, with Murder 2nd Degree and Kidnapping 1st Degree.
 
The three are scheduled to be arraigned today at First District Court in Central Islip.
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
