Man Seriously Injured in Oakdale Two Car Crash

Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a man in Oakdale this evening.

Oakdale, NY - July 12th, 2015 - Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that seriously injured a man in Oakdale this evening.

Denis McAuliffe was driving a 2004 Lincoln eastbound on Montauk Highway when his vehicle struck the rear of a 2000 Chevrolet Impala that had turned onto eastbound Montauk Highway from Dale Drive at approximately 8:30 p.m. The Lincoln struck two trees.

Mcauliffe, 61, of Berard Boulevard, Oakdale, was airlifted via Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Chevrolet, Steven Hawrylynko, 20, of Matthews Road, Oakdale, was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue with non-life-threatening injuries.

The vehicles were impounded for a safety check. The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this crash to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
