Shoreham, NY - July 13, 2016 - On Sunday, July 10th, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker joined the Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe to celebrate Nikola Tesla’s 160th birthday. The celebration, which took place at the center’s site on Randall Road in Shoreham, included presentations by Jane Alcorn, President of the organization, and Marc Alessi, the organization’s newly-appointed Executive Director.

The event also included presentations by members of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers about how Nikola Tesla’s scientific discoveries changed the world. In addition, a display of Tesla cars, music from the local band New York Vendetta, and refreshments from local vendors made the event a true celebration of Nikola Tesla’s legacy.

“Thank you to the Tesla Science Center at Wardenclyffe for hosting a wonderful celebration,” said Legislator Anker. “It is empowering to think about how much we have advanced technologically and to see the restorations occurring at the Tesla Science Center site in Shoreham. Without the Tesla Science Center organization, the preservation of Nikola Tesla’s legacy would not be possible.”

The Tesla Center at Wardenclyffe offers educational programs for schools and will soon be opening up a museum for the community. For more information, please visit here.
