AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 11 PM EDT SUNDAY The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an Air Quality Health Advisory for the following counties: Nassau, Suffolk, from 11 AM to 11 PM EDT Sunday. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of Ground Level Ozone. The Air Quality Index, or AQI, was created as an easy way to correlate levels of different pollutants to one scale. The higher the AQI value, the greater the health concern. When pollution levels are elevated, the New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Nicholas Roca, of Massapequa, robbed a Carvel cashier while displaying a knife.

The Seventh Squad reports the details of a Robbery that occurred on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at 8:15 pm in Massapequa.
 
According to detectives, Nicholas Roca, 32, of 400 Carman Mill Road, entered the Carvel located at 5596 Merrick Road and approached a male employee, 20, while displaying a knife. He then removed cash from the store register and fled the scene. Police were notified and officers were able to locate Roca a short distance away. After a brief foot pursuit, he was placed into custody. There were no injuries
reported.
 
During a subsequent investigation, detectives also recovered a clear glass pipe containing a burnt substance believed to be crack cocaine.
 
Defendant Nicholas Roca is charged with Robbery 1 st Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4 th Degree, Menacing 2 nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7 th Degree. He will be arraigned on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at First District Court, Hempstead.
