Written by Long Island News & PR  |  15. July 2014

New York, NY - July 14th, 2014 - The MTA Transportation Reinvention Commission, a special advisory body studying challenges facing the MTA and investment needs to meet those challenges, will hold a series of public input sessions July 15-17 that will provide transportation experts and members of the public alike the opportunity to identify challenges and recommend strategies that will preserve and enhance mobility for the region in the coming decades.

In an effort to gather as much input as possible in a short time period, the MTA has also established online opportunities on Facebook and Twitter where the public can comment, engage with others and participate even if they can’t attend the public sessions. Also, an eight-question online survey has been established to further engage the public.

The 24-member Commission, co-chaired by former U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood and former Federal Aviation Administrator Jane Garvey, was created at the request of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and will provide its recommendations before the MTA submits its 2015-2019 Capital Plan to the Capital Program Review Board on October 1.

“The MTA is an economic engine that has led the growth and revitalization of the New York region for over 100 Years”, remarked co-Chair LaHood.  “With the help of the Commissioners, subject matter experts and the public, we will provide far-ranging recommendations that will bolster this cornerstone of the region’s economy for the century to come”.
