Lake Ronkonkoma, NY - July 13, 2015 - The Lake Ronkonkoma Task Force set out a small team on a fact finding expedition Monday morning in order to learn more about this body of water that marks the geography of Long Island. On the boat we had our highly trained scientist and member of the Task force; Dr. Darcy Lonsdale from the SUNY Marine and Atmospheric Sciences school, and steering the vessel was Bill Pfeiffer.

Leslie Kennedy (R-Nesconset) whose legislative district covers parts Lake Ronkonkoma met with Dr. Lonsdale and Mr. Pfeiffer to send them off on their way from the DEC boat launch Monday morning. The Task Force was to collect samples of water, plants, and oxygen levels
in the lake in order to more fully understand the ecologic al system of the lake.

“It is really important for us to understand the environment around us, and I believe that this fact finding mission will provide some insight on the environment within Lake Ronkonkoma.” said Legislator Kennedy.
