Shoes For All Donates 300 Pairs Of Shoes To Veterans And Their Families
Hempstead, NY - July 16, 2015 - Shoes For All, the not for profit agency that collects new and gently worn shoes for those in need in our community recently donated 300 pairs of shoes to veterans at the Veterans Stand Down event at the American Legion Post 390 160 in Hempstead.
The event allowed veterans and their famlies to pick out 300 pairs of shoes to help them in their time of need.
“We were grateful to be able to help out these veterans who gave of themselves for our freedom...” Said Dr. Mary Carlson DPM, founder of Shoes For All. “...it is a great opportunity to give something they need back to them.”
The shoes were collected at recent donation events. “The volunteers and donors don’t always get to see the end result of how their work and donations really affect a person’s life. It’s always a heartwarming experience.” Dr. Carlson said.
Since it began in 2010, Shoes For All has collected over 30,000 pairs of shoes for the community.
