We chose a handful of the most fun, challenging or just plain interesting sounding runs for the month of August. We’ve also included a couple of triathlons for runners looking to expand their horizons. Click the links below to register.

 

Smith Point Sprint Triathlon

• Type: Triathalon
• Fee: $125
• Date: Sun Aug. 4th, 2019 
• Place: Smith Point County Park, Shirley, NY
• About: Begin at Smith Point Country Park with a 500 meter swim. Then take a 16K bike ride over the bridge and back. Finally there is a 5K run back over the bridge.

 

Grape Gallop

• Type: 5K
• Fee: $55
• Date: Aug. 10th, 10am
• Place: Duck Walk Vineyard South, 231 Montauk Highway, Water Mill
• About: Run in the vineyard then enjoy some wine tasting afterward.

 

NCPD Police Officer Memorial 5K Run

• Type: 5K
• Fee: $30
• Date: Sat Aug. 10th, 9:00am
• Place: Sawmill Intermediate School, 103 New Hwy, Commack
• About: Run in remembrance of fallen officers. Proceeds will be donated to Scholarship Funds in the Officer's names.

 

Fire Island 5k Run for Rose

• Type: 5K
• Fee: $35.00
• Date: Sun Aug. 11th, 10:30am
• Place: 1 Cayuga Street Ocean Bay Park
• About: There will be a special 8:45am ferry to Ocean Bay Park that day to accommodate runners.

 

10K Dirty Sock Run

• Type: 10K
• Fee: $25
• Date: Sun Aug. 11th, 8:00am
• Place: Babylon Village near Grade School and Trails
• 169 Park Ave, Babylon
• About: Part of the USATF Long Island Track and Field Cross Country Series. It raises money for local food pantries and soup kitchens.

 

Fifth Annual Run the Farm 4 Mile Challenge

• Type:4 Mile
• Fee: $20
• Date: Sat Aug. 17th, 9:00am
• Place: Bethel Hobbs Community Farm, 178 Oxhead Rd, Centereach
• About: Run to benefit Bethel Hobbs Community Farm with a mission to service local food pantries and food programs.

 

Aloha Run to the Great South Bay Brewery

• Type: 5 Mile
• Fee: $55
• Date: Sun Aug. 18th, 8:30am
• Place: Great South Bay Brewery, 25 Drexel Dr, Bay Shore
• About: Flat and fast  tour of local neighborhoods followed by post-race party at the Great South Bay Brewery facility.

 

Runner's Edge TOBAY Triathlon and Relay

• Type: Triathalon
• Fee: $115
• Date: Sun Aug. 25th, 7am
• Place: Theodore Roosevelt Memorial Park, 25 West End Ave, Oyster Bay
• About: Begins with a half-mile swim in Oyster Bay Harbor. Next, is a one loop 15K bike ride. Last, a 5K up to the Planting Fields Arboretum and down to Roosevelt Park.
