SCPD: Huntington Man Arrested for Making Terroristic Threats

A man was charged with six counts of Making a Terroristic Threat after being suspended from the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory.

Original Release - Huntington, NY - July 17, 2014 - The Special Investigations Squad reports an arrest for Making a Terroristic Threat on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 at 4:45 P.M.
 
According to detectives, John P. Sheppard, 26, of 62A Fairview Street, Huntington, who was studying at the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, was suspended for erratic behavior.  After his suspension he made several threatening posts on social media which put the staff in fear of their safety.  The incidents occurred between May 19, 2014 and May 23, 2014.  On July 16, 2014, after an investigation, Sheppard was arrested at his home without incident.  At the time of his arrest the defendant was found to be in possession of an imitation pistol BB gun.  No injuries were reported.
 
Sheppard is charged with six counts of Making a Terroristic Threat and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon 4th degree.  He will be arraigned on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at First District Court in Hempstead.
