NCBA Announces Roadwork at the Atlantic Beach Bridge; Intermittent Full Bridge Closures to Occur

The Nassau County Bridge Authority (NCBA) advises that motorists be aware that bridge road work, weather permitting, is planned on the Atlantic Beach Bridge on Wednesday July 17 through Friday July 19th.
 
Intermittent full bridge closures will occur from 10pm to 6am nightly, in 15-minute durations, to perform routine maintenance on the mechanical drawbridge. 
 
Customers, motorists and emergency services are advised to consider using alternate routes.
 
The Nassau County Bridge Authority is a Public Benefit Corporation under New York State law. The Authority operates and maintains the Atlantic Beach Bridge.
 
The Atlantic Beach Bridge is a bascule bridge that connects the barrier island communities of Atlantic Beach, Long Beach, Lido Beach and Point Lookout with Long Island.  The bridge opened for traffic in 1952. It is 1,173 feet long and has three lanes in each direction with eleven toll lanes on the toll plaza, accepting E-ZPass and cash.
