Five-Year-Old Girl from Farmingville Drowns in Islip Backyard Pool

Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the drowning death of a 5-year-old girl in Islip last night.

Islip, NY - July 19, 2015 - Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the drowning death of a 5-year-old girl in Islip last night.

Suffolk County Police Third Precinct officers responded to the home located at 51 Columbine Ave. at approximately 7:30 p.m. after a 911 caller reported a child was found unresponsive in the backyard pool. 

The child, Carissa Walker, of Farmingville, was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore where she was pronounced dead.

The investigation is continuing.
