Massapequa, NY - July 19, 2017 - Senator John E. Brooks hosted a Town Hall meeting with more than 100 residents of The Oaks at Broadlawn Manor in Massapequa on Friday afternoon, July 14th. Brooks listened to constituents’ questions and concerns, and provided them with updates from the legislative session. Many residents voiced their concerns over community issues and provided their input on policy matters at the meeting.

Senator Brooks said, “My number one priority is serving the needs of my constituents and being accessible to them. Their input is essential to making real, effective change on Long Island and in Albany; this is why we bring these meetings into the communities. I want my constituents to know that my door is always open. Thank you to everyone who made the time to participate.”

Residents of The Oaks, a ‘Golden Age’ housing community for those 62 and older, spoke to their concerns on taxes, healthcare, and federal budget cuts to senior programs. Other matters discussed were government corruption and term limits, the environment, education, LIRR, the opioid epidemic, and the poor condition of Long Island roads.

This Town Hall meeting is one in an ongoing series Senator Brooks is hosting throughout the 8th Senate District. He encourages all residents to attend at least one Town Hall meeting to take the opportunity to ask questions about community issues and concerns, the legislative process, and to voice opinions.
