William Floyd Board of Education President Receives Board Achievement Award
Mastic Beach, NY - July 21, 2015 - At the July 7, 2015, Board of Education meeting, William Floyd Superintendent Kevin Coster presented Robert Vecchio, President of the William Floyd Board of Education, with the New York State School Board Association (NYSSBA) Level II Board Excellence Award through the School Board U. Recognition Program. This award acknowledges the extensive time and effort required of school board members who continually strive to expand their knowledge and skills for better board governance. Board members qualify for recognition by participating in any NYSSBA developmental activities, such as the Board Officers Academy, NYSSBA Annual Convention, legal conference, regional workshops or district level custom improvement programs.
Mr. Vecchio is a 23-year resident of the William Floyd School District, just completing his twelfth year of board service (2003). He has served as president of the Board of Education since 2006 and has provided strong board leadership throughout his tenure. He resides in Shirley, NY.
