Ridge Man in SCPD Custody After Running Motorist Off Parkway in Alleged Road Rage Incident

Ridge, NY - July 21, 2017 - Suffolk County Police have arrested a man for a road rage incident which caused another motorist to crash and suffer injuries last week in Ridge, New York.
 
A man was recklessly operating a 2015 Dodge Challenger northbound on William Floyd Parkway near Upton Road on July 13, at approximately 5:15 p.m. when he caused a motorist driving a 2006 Nissan Altima northbound to leave the road and crash into a wooded area. The suspect left the scene.
 
The 23-year-old driver of the Nissan suffered a broken femur, which required surgery, and a hand injury. He was released from Stony Brook University Hospital July 20.
 
After an investigation, police arrested Robert Ferrara Jr. on July 20 at the Seventh Precinct at approximately 10:50 p.m. Ferrara Jr., 19, of Ridge, was charged with Reckless Driving, Reckless Endangerment 2nd Degree, and Assault 3rd Degree. All three charges are misdemeanors. Ferrara Jr. was issued a Desk Appearance Ticket and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on September 22. 
 
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
