Glen Cove, NY - July 22, 2015 - Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano announces the return of the popular Garvies Point Day, on Saturday, August 1st from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Garvies Point Museum and Preserve. There is a special program fee of $5 for adults and children ages 4 and older.
In observance of all that is nurtured and celebrated at the museum, Garvies Point will be offering an insect study, nature films and crafts, rock and mineral identification and a butterfly garden tour. Also featured will be bird watching with North Shore Audubon, face painting in Woodland Village, and Nassau Mineral Club open house. Additionally, there will be a Live Animals Presentation given by Tackapausha Museum on Garvies Point Day.
“Garvies Point Day offers a variety of entertainment for our residents to enjoy,” said County Executive Mangano. “Come take a tour of all the wonders that nature has to offer right here in Nassau County.”
The Garvies Point Museum and beautiful adjoining 62-acre Preserve is located at 50 Barry Drive in Glen Cove near Hempstead Harbor. Garvies Point includes permanent exhibits and educational programs devoted to regional geology and Native-American archaeology. In addition, changing exhibits cover a variety of natural history subjects.
