The beach closure issued on July 18, 2016, for Grantland Beach in Strongs Neck has been lifted, as as for Tanner Park Beach in Copiague and Venetian Shores Beach in Lindenhurst.

Beach closure for Grantland Beach in Strongs Neck on July 18, 2016 has been lifted. Copiague and Lindenhurst beaches remain closed to bathing.

Copiague / Lindenhurst / Strongs Neck, NY - July 22, 2016 - The beach closures issued on July 19, 2016, for Tanner Park Beach in Copiague and Venetian Shores Beach in Lindenhurst have been lifted. The beach closure issued on July 18, 2016, for Grantland Beach in Strongs Neck has been lifted. Results of recent samples collected show the water quality to be within acceptable levels.

According to Suffolk County Commissioner of Health Dr. James Tomarken, bathing in bacteria-contaminated water can result in gastrointestinal illness, as well as infections of the eyes, ears, nose, and throat.
