NCPD: Crazed Roosevelt Man Resists Arrest, Throws "Unknown Liquid" and Attempts to Steal Officer's Firearm

The Seventh Squad reports the arrest of a Roosevelt man for an Assault that occurred on Sunday, July 21, 2024 at 7:48 pm in Merrick.
 
According to Detectives, 911 received a call for a disturbance at Planet Fitness, located at 1630 Merrick Road. Upon officer’s arrival, suspect Getho Brevette, 27, of 52 Park Avenue, fled the scene in his 2015 Hyundai heading westbound on Merrick Road. Shortly after, the defendant was involved in an auto accident and left the scene, but later returned to Planet Fitness. 
 
As officers approached the defendant, he threw an unknown liquid on them, forcibly removed an officer’s body-worn camera, threw it on the ground causing it to break, and then attempted to remove the officer’s weapon. Two officers sustained injuries during the course of the arrest, as the defendant was violent and became combative while resisting arrest. The two officers were transported to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation. The defendant was also transported to a local hospital. 
 
Defendant Getho Brevette is charged with two counts of Assault 2nd Degree, Grand Larceny 4th Degree, Robbery 2nd Degree, Criminal Mischief 3rd Degree, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree, Sexual Abuse 3rd Degree, Forceable Touching, and Leaving the Scene of an Auto Accident. He was arraigned on Monday, July 22, 2024 at First District Court 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
 
Getho Brevette was previously arrested on Saturday, July 20, 2024 for a Robbery at the First Baptist Church of Westbury and was released on Sunday, July 21, 2024.
