AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING An Air Quality Health Advisory remains in effect for the following counties: Nassau and Suffolk. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. The toll free number is 1 800 5 3 5, 1 3 4 5.

SCPD are seeking the public’s help to locate the man who burglarized a Shirley business in April.

Shirley, NY - July 26, 2017 - Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Seventh Squad detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the man who burglarized a Shirley business in April.
 
A man smashed the window of Zee Smoke and Vape Shop, located at 423 William Floyd Parkway, sometime between 11pm on April 11 and 7 am on April 12. The man stole a cash register and cash.
 
The suspect was white or Hispanic, in his 20s to 30s with a medium build. He wore a gray hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans with a dark-colored belt and dark sneakers with white soles and laces.
 
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
