Waffles & Soul Opens in Bellport

If you like your waffles with chicken, then you found your spot. Waffles & Soul opened up recently in Bellport and it’s been lighting up the social media review sites. It’s not just a piece of fried chicken on a plain old waffle (although they have that too), it’s a variety of unique variations on the theme.

 

The Soul Tower is one of their specialties, featuring a waffle made from our four cheese mac, topped with sweet candied yams, finished off with a hand breaded chicken breast. Served with their house syrup ($16). There’s the The Red Sea, made with red velvet cornbread waffle topped with a 6-ounce fried lobster tail and two sides ($22). They have their Famous Classic, the staple but with a twist of soul ($14). You can also build your own waffles.

 

Don’t want waffles? No worries. They have a whole host of other offerings including a fish sandwich, fried whiting on a hearty piece of white bread, ($14), a pan seared salmon ($16), or just get their half-pounder of fried or sauteed shrimp ($12).

 

Sides include mac & cheese, yellow rice, candied yams, collard greens, corn on the cob, hand-cut french fries, mom’s potato salad, or seasonal veggies.

 

On Yelp, Jacqueline V, from Lake Ronkonkoma, gave it five stars.

 

“This was my first time at this restaurant and I will be coming back many more times in the future,” she wrote. “We walked in and the owner's mother greeted us and told us the amazing story behind their establishment… I highly recommend Waffles and Soul!”

 

Susan F, from Bellport, also gave it a glowing review.

 

“Went in to see if they could cater food for my book club & the owner was so nice and accommodating,” she said. “The food was ready at the exact time he promised...and it was delicious!!!  The Ladies didn't give me time to unwrap it and put it on plates...we ate it right out of the cartons. Highly recommend this new addition to Bellport.”
