West Hempstead Man Injures 5 NCPD Officers Attempting to Arrest Him in Connection with Domestic Disturbance

The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of a West Hempstead man for an incident that occurred on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at 4:35 pm in West Hempstead.
 
According to detectives, officers responded to a disturbance located at 78 Hempstead Turnpike. Upon arrival, officers were informed that the Defendant Luis Taborda Corrales, 27, was involved in a verbal argument that escalated with a female victim, 26 and fled the scene on a bicycle.
 
Officers located the defendant nearby and attempted to place him into custody. Defendant Corrales became violent and combative and after a brief struggle, officers were able to secure the defendant. Five officers sustained injuries during the course of the arrest and were transported to a local area hospital for evaluation and treatment. 
 
Defendant Luis Taborda Corrales is charged with three Counts of Assault 2nd Degree, four Counts of Harassment 2nd Degree and Resisting Arrest. He will be arraigned on Friday, July 26, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street Hempstead.
