AIR QUALITY ALERT IN EFFECT UNTIL 11 PM EDT THIS EVENING An Air Quality Health Advisory remains in effect for the following counties: Nassau and Suffolk. Until 11 PM EDT this evening. Air quality levels in outdoor air are predicted to be greater than an Air Quality Index value of 100 for the pollutant of ground level ozone. The New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who may be especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants include the very young, and those with preexisting respiratory problems such as asthma or heart disease. Those with symptoms should consider consulting their personal physician. A toll free air quality hotline has been established so New York residents can stay informed on the air quality situation. Motorcyclist Injured in Crash then Struck By Driver Who Fled the Scene, SCPD Investigating

Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating an incident during which a motorcyclist was injured in a crash and later struck by a driver who fled the scene in Lake Grove.

Lake Grove, NY - July 25, 2015 - Suffolk County Police Fourth Squad detectives are investigating an incident during which a motorcyclist was injured in a crash and later struck by a driver who fled the scene in Lake Grove.

James Dang was riding his 2004 Suzuki motorcycle northbound on Moriches Road, south of Jericho Turnpike, when he lost control of his bike and was laying in the road approximately 1:35 a.m. The motorcyclist was then struck by a vehicle described as a dark-colored SUV.

The SUV fled the scene. Dang, 31, of Flushing, was transported by the Centereach Fire Department to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment serious injuries.

Fourth Squad detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash to call 631-854-8452 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
