Long Island Nets and New York Liberty Team Up with St. John’s University on Sports Law Program to Increase Diversity in Legal Profession

The Long Island Nets, the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, and New York Liberty have partnered with St. John’s University’s School of Law to host a sports law summer program for high school students to increase diversity in the legal profession. 2023 marks the fourth year of the program, with classes being held in-person at Barclays Center. The program runs through August 2 and is supported by the Brooklyn Nets & New York Liberty Foundation.

The LI Nets, New York Liberty and St. John’s are hosting 20 underserved high school students who live or attend school in the New York City Metro area. The students are participating in daily classes where they explore their interests at the intersection of sports law and social justice, while networking with leaders in the sports industry at BSE Global, the parent company of Barclays Center, the Brooklyn Nets, the New York Liberty, the Long Island Nets, and NBA 2K League affiliate NetsGC, about various career avenues available to them in the legal field.

About the Long Island Nets

The Long Island Nets are the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets. The team started NBA G League play during the 2016-17 season and presently plays its home game at Nassau Coliseum on Long Island.
