Update - July 31, 2016 - The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation is pleased to announce Zach’s Bay, located within Jones Beach State Park is open to swimming. Conditions have improved so that state standards for beach water quality are being met. Current conditions at the beach are satisfactory for swimming.

Wantagh, NY - July 29, 2016 - The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation announces that swimming is currently closed at Zach’s Bay located within Jones Beach State Park.
This temporary closure is a precautionary step to assure protection of the health and safety of swimmers.
Due to current heavy rain it is not expected to open tomorrow.
Results from additional water quality testing will be reviewed to determine when swimming will once again be permitted. Notification will be provided at the park and through media sources.
