Authorities Report Motorcyclist Killed in Wyandanch Motor Vehicle Crash

Suffolk County Police First Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a motorcyclist in Wyandanch Sunday.
 
Diane King was driving a 2014 Nissan Murano northbound on Straight Path at approximately 5:30 p.m. Sunday when she attempted to make a left turn onto South 24th Street and collided with a 2004 Honda motorcycle being operated by Martin Newkirk.
 
Newkirk, 50, of Wyandanch, was taken via ambulance to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was pronounced dead. King, 62, of Wyandanch and a passenger in her vehicle were also taken via ambulance to Good Samaritan hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
 
The vehicle and motorcycle were impounded for a safety check. Anyone with information about this crash is asked to call the First Squad at 631-854-8152.
