Special Weather Statement issued December 21 at 10:02AM EST by NWS Upton NY Areas of 2 to 5 inches of snow have been reported across northeast New Jersey, NYC, Western Long Island, the Lower Hudson Valley, and parts of western Connecticut. Wind gusts may peak around 30-35 mph this afternoon and may persist into the early evening before weakening early tonight. Conditions during this time are expected to lead to blowing snow already on the ground. This can lead to quickly reduced visibilities on roadways. Any untreated surfaces may remain snow- covered and icy into this evening, leading to hazardous driving conditions. Leave plenty of space between you and other drivers and drive at reduced speeds.

State Police Investigating Four Car Fatal Collision on Meadowbrook Parkway

Incident occurred on Sunday, July 28 at exit M1 in Hempstead, cops say.

The New York State Police are investigating a four-car collision which occurred at approximately 1:58 p.m. northbound on the Meadowbrook State Parkway at exit M1, Town of Hempstead, Nassau County.
 
Preliminary investigation revealed that a collision occurred when the operator of a 2013 BMW X5 traveling northbound struck a 2018 Honda Civic, causing the Honda to exit the roadway onto the right shoulder, where it struck a steel light pole and came to rest. The BMW continued northbound and struck a 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser and a 2017 GMC Acadia that were also traveling northbound.  The GMC was forced into the center median where it came to rest. Both the BMW and Chrysler then continued a short distance northbound and came to rest in the center of the roadway.
 
The operator of the BMW, Thomas A. Bochichio, age 22, of Massapequa Park, NY was taken to Winthrop University Hospital for minor injuries. The operator of the Chrysler, Samantha C. Shaw, age 23, of Westbury, NY and the front passenger, Timothy J. Lafferty, age 24, of Syosset, NY were pronounced deceased at the scene. At this time, there have been no criminal charges filed.
