Unhinged Elmont Woman Bites Nassau Cop During Domestic Assault Arrest: Officials

The Fifth Squad reports the arrest of an Elmont woman for an Assault that occurred on Sunday, July 28, 2024 at 3:25 PM in Elmont.
 
According to detectives, officers responded to a Belmont Boulevard residence for a disturbance. Upon police arrival, officers were informed that the Defendant Zaire Steele, 18, was involved in a verbal argument with another female in the residence. The argument escalated and the defendant bit the female victim on the wrist. 
 
While responding officers attempted to place Defendant Steele under arrest, she resisted and refused to comply with verbal commands. One officer sustained injuries during the course of the arrest, as the defendant was violent and combative and bit him on the hand. She additionally spit on another officer. The injured officer was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
 
The Defendant Zaire Steele is charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Assault 3rd Degree, Harassment 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest and Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd Degree. She will be arraigned Monday, July 29, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
