A couple who are also partners in a local Long Island business were brazenly robbed at gunpoint in broad daylight on Monday while they were making their weekly bank deposit, with the crooks making off with a whopping $140,000 in proceeds, according to police.

The two were waylaid by a group of five individuals out side the Bank of America in Hicksville, according to one of the victims, named Emily (last name withheld), who was unsure whether or not if the couple were followed there.

"Five guys, I think. Four guys and one woman," she said. "We are not sure. We just come from home. I live in Flushing."

The crime was witnessed by multiple individuals in a nearby laundromat, who noted that the suspects were all dressed in black. The robbery attempt was disrupted by several PSEG workers who were near the scene - with one of them reportedly putting one of the assailants in a headlock - but they nonetheless managed to escape with the money.

Emily extended her thanks to the PSEG workers to attempted to intervene, but noted that they had no choice but to turn over their bank deposit when the criminals pulled a gun on them.

"PSEG, yeah, they hold the car door and hold the driver," she said. "A lot of people tried to help us, but we saw they have a gun in the car so we just let it go."

Nassau County Police are currently investigating the incident, noting that some details were caught on surveillance video that will be released in the near future.
