National Night Out Event Scheduled for Nassau County on Tuesday, August 2, 2016
Nassau County, NY - August 1, 2016 - County Executive Edward P. Mangano and Acting Police Commissioner Thomas C. Krumpter announced today that the Nassau County Police Department will be participating in the “33rd Annual National Night Out” a unique crime/drug prevention event on Tuesday August 2, 2016.
National Night Out is designed to:
- Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;
- Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
- Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
- Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.
National Night Out Event Schedule for Nassau County
1st, 2nd, 3rd Pct - Veterans Memorial Park - East Meadow & Prospect Avenues, East Meadow, 1900-2100 hours. Sponsored by Legislator Norma Gonsalves. Held in conjunction with 1st, 2nd & 3rd Precincts and Police Explorers. The event is geared toward Child Safety. Crime prevention literature will also be distributed.
Uniondale Fire House - 154 Uniondale Ave., Uniondale, 1800-2100 hours. Sponsored by Legislator Kevan Abrahams. Family fun day, crime prevention awareness and Shed the Med program.
2nd Pct No. Car Show - Main Street, Oyster Bay, 1800-2030 hours. An informational booth will be manned by 2nd Precinct POP officers who will distribute crime prevention materials.
3rd Pct Kelleher Field - Williston Park, 1900-2130 hours. Children’s Ride for a Safer
Williston Park Parade begins at 1900 hours followed by a Williston Park Neighborhood Watch Event at Kelleher Field, Williston Park. 3rd Precinct POP will distribute crime prevention literature.
Martin “Bunky” Reid Park - Broadway & Railroad Streets, Westbury. Sponsored by Legislator Siela Bynoe and the Town of North Hempstead. This event starts out with a parade at 1730 hours that concludes at Bunky Reid Park where there will be a fair from 1800-2030 hours. 3rd Precinct Officers will be on hand to answer questions and give out crime prevention materials.
Jonathan L. Ielpi Firefighters Park - Grace Ave., Great Neck Plaza, 1800-2130 hours. Mayor Jean Celendar & her staff from the Village of Great Neck Plaza will be attending.
4th Pct Cedarhurst Park - Cedarhurst and Summit Avenues, 1800-2200 hours. POP officers will be distributing crime prevention literature. Mounted Unit and Auxiliary Police will also be present.
5th Pct Green Acres Mall - southeast parking field, 1800-2100 hours. Many community organizations as well as governmental agencies will be in attendance. Food and refreshments will be provided to all as well as live entertainment. Sponsored by Legislator Carrie Solages.
7th Pct John Burns Park - Merrick Road, Massapequa, 1900-2100. The Town of Oyster Bay is sponsoring a concert as part of the ‘Music Under the Stars’ concert series. The POP Unit Police Officers will maintain a presence to discuss the concerns of the attendees and to distribute community awareness fliers prior to the start of the musical entertainment.
