Written by Chris Boyle  |  05. August 2024

Nassau County Legislator Debra Mulé (D – Freeport) recently got an up-close look at the nearly completed, rebuilt Oceanside Public Library.

Designed with an emphasis on sustainability and the integration of modern technology and amenities at the new 48,000 square-foot Library includes a theater/stage with modern sound equipment; a STEM workshop, a podcast room, a demonstration “Discovery” kitchen, a craft room, a café, gallery, and vegetable garden that will be used to teach youngsters about sustainability and gardening. There are also numerous meeting rooms, soft seating areas, and spaces geared toward adults, teens, tweens, and children, including a gaming room.

“Libraries in 2024 are so much more than just bookshelves, magazines and microfiche - they are cornerstones of our communities and a gateway to a world of knowledge and experiences that shape our lives,” Legislator Mulé said. “Through its cutting-edge redesign, the Oceanside Library has taken a giant step toward into the future as a diversified and engaging neighborhood hub that offers something for everyone. Thank you to Director Tony Iovino for inviting me to tour the library - I’m looking forward to celebrating its grand opening with you soon!”
