Cab Driver Killed in Single-Car Crash in Setauket

Setauket, NY - August 1st, 2013 - Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a single-car crash that killed a cab driver in Setauket early this morning.

Wayne Bracone was driving a cab for Islandwide Taxi westbound on Main Street when the 2001 Ford left the roadway at Gnarled Hollow Road and struck a utility pole on the north side of the road at 2:10 a.m.

Bracone, 58, of Ridge, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check. The investigation is continuing and detectives are asking anyone with information to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
